Rain wreaks havoc in Ajaawa, over 300 houses destroyed, 2 hospitalized(Photos)

Disaster struck in Ajaawa, headquarters of Ogo-Oluwa local government of Oyo state, following two separate rainstorms, one last week Thursday and another yesterday.

A victim who however did not mention his name told ogbomosoinsightonline.com that “it was a disastrous occurrence.”

“The first rainfall occured nine days ago (last week Thursday), and it destroyed over 100 houses. We are yet to recover from that when another downpour started yesterday at about 4pm and when it stopped over 200 houses had been destroyed. It’s devastating,” the distraught man added.

When asked, he informed that two children suffered injuries yesterday as the house they were in fell on them “but they were rescued and are receiving treatment in a medical facility presently.”

Alajaawa of Ajaawa Oba Thompson Adeyeye in a telephone interview with Ogbomoso Insight expressed grief over the disaster urging governments, political office holders and philanthropists to assist the community.

Oba Adeyeye who disclosed he is presently out of Ajaawa stated he had detailed his aides to compile a comprehensive report and forward to him.

Calls made to the mobile line of the council chairman Hon Seun Ojo were not answered and are yet to be returned as at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa federal constituency, Hon Sunday Makanjuola a.k.a. Smato, it is learnt, has sent his domestic aides to commiserate with the people of Ajaawa over the disaster and assess the extent of damage.

“Hon Smato is seriously pained by the development and is strenuously working on bringing relief to the victims,” Obalade Kadewole, a domestic aide of Smato informed.
