Brigadier General Odu Ogbor James, financial director of the Nigerian Military Resettlement Center (NAFRC) in Oshodi, Lagos, has died.
The general lost his life on Tuesday night after a noncommissioned officer identified as Abayomi Edun knocked him out in his barracks.
The deceased was reportedly on his way to his home when a non-commissioned officer driving an SUV with license plate EKY 177 FX met him.
Edun is said to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
A source told the Daily Trust that the deceased was taken to the NAFRC medical center, where doctors certified him dead. In a statement, James’ team at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kullu described the loss as shocking.
“Our tireless, humble and kind bridge builder and crew overseeing the SEC 40 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Brigadier General AO JAMES, mni, has just left. 11/22), died from injuries sustained in a road fall in Lagos.
“May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to AANI, especially the family of SEC 40. May the Lord comfort all and give strength to endure this irreparable loss.” Very sad,” read the statement signed by ACM Kayode Olagunju.
According to the deceased’s profile posted on the NARFC website, the late general had his 1st degree in Accounting and Finance and his 2nd degree. He was a Fellow of the Nigerian Association of National Accountants (ANAN) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), the Nigerian Institute of Directors (MIoD), the British Tax Institute (ACTI) and the National Institute.
