Anambra’s state command, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), has arrested a certain Uchenna Nwobi for sexually abusing her two biological daughters, ages 5 and 3.
A suspect, a resident of Abagana in the Nijicoka Local Government Area of the state, was arrested on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, after a whistleblower reported the incident to the Anambra State Department of Women and Social Welfare.
Upon receiving the complaint, Director of Women’s Social Welfare, Obinabo, through her Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response Team, immediately notified her NSCDC and an investigation was initiated.
During the course of the investigation, the NSCDC Intelligence Unit rescued the children and arrested the suspect.
was found to have been sexually abusing children since 2020 after his wife kicked him out of the house due to marital problems.
Nwobi has been imprisoned on child sexual abuse and abuse charges and will face trial once the investigation is complete.
The children were first taken to the Ntasi Center in Enugu Uku where the doctor on duty confirmed their violation.
When they were taken to the hospital, they had new, swollen bruises on their genitals.
The children confirmed that they were constantly sexually abused by their fathers and asked them not to return to their fathers for fear of punishment.
The inspector who brought the matter up at her office in Awka said he would take both the man and his wife to court and do whatever it took.
During interrogation, his father denied the allegations and claimed that he was unaware that someone was sexually abusing his children, let alone him.
He also threatened to take action against those who made this report.
