Man arrested employing youngsters with a fake stomach tumour to beg for charity in Lagos confesses, “My oga provides them medications that create swelling.”

Onyedinka Esiala, a middle-aged guy, was discovered manipulating youngsters in Lagos State who had fictitious stomach tumours to beg for money.

On September 28, 2022, a bystander named Benefit exposed Esiala, an inhabitant of Enugu State, in the state’s Mile 2 neighbourhood.

The suspect told Vanguard that his purported boss, Uche, started the scheme and gave the kids unidentified medications to make their tummies expand.

Every year when Uche visits the country’s eastern region, he allegedly brings children with him to Lagos.

“Onyedinka is my name, and I’m from the state of Enugu. Uche is my oga. I had no work waiting for me when I arrived from the countryside, so he asked me to assist him in taking these kids out to beg “said he.

“The children’s moms are aware of the practise, and my Oga always gives the children pills that will cause their stomachs to swell for a few hours before I take them from Orile to the Mile 2 pedestrian bridge. Their mothers remain in the community.”

Before they gave the kids to my Oga to travel to Lagos, the kids lived with them in the village. Although their mother frequently takes the girls to my Oga, the girls are not my sisters. Some children stay with us for an entire year, and their moms in the village receive half of the money they earn from begging. They do receive black medicines from my Oga. The names of the medications escape me. The name is unknown to me, however it is a black substance.

“My Oga brought one of the children in December of last year, while the other girl stayed with us for three months. One of them is a boy, but he wasn’t there today since he wasn’t feeling well.

“We don’t frequently visit. Sometimes, we visit three times per week. My oga is Uche, and I don’t know the precise location of another group of people that reside at Ajagbadi. Different from the person handling us in Mile 2 is the person handling that of Ajagbadi. Goodluck is in control, but he is currently travelling and not in Lagos, therefore his younger brother is,” he continued.

Oyedinka was transported to the Nigeria Police Station Area E, Festac for more questioning after being thoroughly interrogated.
