He said, “Rest in peace friend. Thank you for having had the privilege of meeting you, the oldest dog in the world, What an amazing life you had. ”

In February, Bobi received a Guinness World Record for being the world’s oldest dog, surpassing the previous record-holder, a chihuahua in Ohio, USA. Bobi was a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a Portuguese livestock guardian dog.

He also holds the title for the oldest dog ever, previously held by an Australian cattle dog that lived to 29 years and five months.

Bobi’s age was officially verified by his vet and a government-authorised pet database in Portugal. His owner, Leonel Costa, who held a grand birthday party for Bobi in May when he turned 31, has not yet commented on the dog’s passing.
