Peace Anyam Osigwe, founder and CEO of the African Film Academy Awards (AMAA), has passed away.
Peace Nigeria’s one of his most revered filmmakers, Aniyam Osigwe, is reported to have died at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos on Monday, January 9, 2023 after a brief illness. .
Her colleagues and close friends who visited her at her hospital refused to believe the news of her death, claiming she was merely in intensive care, but a prominent Filmmaker Zik Zulu broke the news.

Award-winning producer Obi Emeronier also admitted that she shared his social media handle, although the family tried to be polite in releasing the information.
The hardworking woman will be remembered as one of those who shaped the face of the new Nollywood because her contributions to the industry cannot be overstated. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was not only the founder of the African Film Academy Awards (AMAA), he was also president of the Association of Film Producers (AMP) and one of Nollywood’s most prominent figures.
She directed her music video for hip-hop sensation P-Square. In 2012, she was awarded the Order of the Federal Republic by the Government of Nigeria for her contributions to the entertainment industry.
