In a statement released yesterday in Lafia through his chief press secretary Ibrahim Addra, Governor Sule referred to the loss of life of civilians in such situations as regrettable and urged prudence at all times.

Sule sent his sympathies to the surviving family members and friends as well as the local and federal NNPP leadership.

He prayed for the dead to rest in peace and for those injured to heal quickly.

Only three months after leaving the All Progressives Congress, former Kano Governor Senator Ibrahim Shekarau has formally defected to the NNPP of Ibrahim Rabiu Kwankwaso (APC).

On August 22, 2022, the senator for Kano Central District revealed this to a group of supporters gathered at the Kano Foundation office on Bayero University Kano (BUK) road.

Shekarau declared, “NNPP is done with me.”

Regarding the cause of his leaving the party, he said that former governor and NNPP founder Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had betrayed and humiliated him.

“I will never support injustice,” he declared. No political position can force me to compromise my integrity or the integrity of my people. No one will undermine my integrity with power or wealth.

He claimed that “Kwankwaso and his troops broke all the agreements we had with him and did not accommodate even one person from my camp.”

“We reached an agreement to include my supporters into various elective positions in the party,” he said. “But up until now, the committee set up could not include a single person aside from the Senatorial slot given to me.”

I am a man of honour and honesty, but his candidate for governor (Abba Kabir Yusuf), who was tasked with finding ways to include my people in various elective offices, never for a single day did so or even call for meetings, much less accept my followers to run.
