Nigeria’s Super Eagles receive warm reception in Abuja after AFCON final (Photos)

The Federal Government has hosted a welcome breakfast for the Super Eagles at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

The team arrived in the capital city on Monday night, following their runner-up performance at the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’Ivoire.

Sharing a video of their return via Instagram on Tuesday, February 13, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Sports, Diana-Mary Nsan, wrote: “At 12:30 am, the Super Eagles landed home, led by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, the NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau.

“On the tarmac, we had the GS of the NFF Dr Sanusi and the Permanent Secretary of the Mnistry of Sports, Mrs Watti among others.#AFCON2023 #SuperEagles.”

The welcome breakfast was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, John Enoh; the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and other dignitaries.

The 25-man squad of the Super Eagles included key players such as Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa, Victor Osimhen, Ola Aina, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, Kenneth Omeruo, Joe Aribo and Williams Trost Ekong.
