Nigerians Qualify As UK Launches Scale-up Visa For Skilled Workers

Foreign nationals may now submit an application for a scale-up visa, according to the United Kingdom (UK), as of August 22.

In a statement issued on Monday, the government said that the new form of visa will provide the UK’s top high-growth companies more freedom and leverage to recruit talent from all over the world.

A scale-up visa is what?
It is a pathway for international talent who has been sponsored by a scale-up business in the UK and who possesses the necessary abilities to support the expansion of scale-up businesses.

Scientists, engineers, programmers, software developers, experts in research and development, economists, architects, technicians, and financial and investment consultants are among the professions that qualify for the scale-up visa.

The scale-up visa, in contrast to other sponsored visas, enables companies to hire highly talented workers who will be granted two years of leave to remain in the UK without needing additional sponsorship or authorization after the initial six months.

This will improve the total opportunity for firms to acquire qualified workers from any country in the world through the points-based immigration system, according to the government. According to the statement, the Scale-up visa will give employers more freedom to bring on the frequently in-demand talent they need to advance. This will also help the UK’s high-skilled labour market.

“Companies, including small businesses and those in the tech and financial services sectors, will be eligible to sponsor talented individuals through the Scale-up visa if they have experienced growth of 20% or more in either employment or turnover year-over-year for at least 3 years and employed at least 10 people at the start of the 3 years.”

The scale-up visa, according to Kevin Foster, the UK’s minister for safe and legal migration, will give firms the appropriate amount of assistance “to get to the next level.”

According to Foster, “Through our Scale-up visa, we’re letting businesses to focus on their growth and innovation by giving them more freedom to bring in the various skills and experience they need, making them more appealing on an international stage.”
