NFF terminates Jose Peseiro’s contract, begins hunt for new Super Eagles coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has terminated the contract of Jose Peseiro as head coach of the Super Eagles, according to many reports.

NFF won’t be extended the contract of coach of Jose Peseiro following break down in talks over a new deal that will see him stay on for at least another year,

Peseiro’s deal expired last month and talks were on over an extension with the main issue centered around his monthly salary of $70,000 a week.

The NFF proposed a slash in the wage as they have struggled to meet up with the demand.

However their proposed wage was rejected by the representatives of the Portuguese coach leading to a collapse in talks.

The option of extending the deal will now be terminated using the disagreement over a new pay as the reason in a bid to avoid any penalty.

Peseiro was appointed Super Eagles coach in May 2022, but his tenure has been met with criticism from fans and pundits.

The NFF has said that it will begin the process of appointing a new Super Eagles coach immediately.

Some of the names that have been mentioned as possible replacements for Peseiro include former Nigeria internationals Finidi George and Emmanuel Amuneke.

The NFF’s decision to terminate Peseiro’s contract is a major gamble. The Super Eagles are due to play in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in January, and they will need a new coach who can quickly get the team up to speed.

The NFF will need to act quickly to appoint a new coach and give them enough time to prepare for the AFCON.

The team’s chances of success in the tournament will depend on the quality of the new coach and the players who are available.

The team has not won the AFCON since 2013, and they need to start winning trophies again if they want to be considered one of the top teams in Africa.

The NFF will need to make the right decision when appointing a new coach.

The team cannot afford to make another mistake, as their chances of success in the AFCON and other major tournaments will depend on it.
