Legendary actor, James Earl Jones passes away at 93

James Earl Jones, the iconic Hollywood actor known for his deep voice and powerful performances, has tragically passed away at the age of 93.

James Earl Jones passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2024, surrounded by his family, according to his agent, Barry McPherson.

Born in Mississippi in January 1931, the legendary actor appeared in numerous Hollywood films, including Coming to America, The Greatest, Field of Dreams, and Conan the Barbarian. He was especially famous for voicing the iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader and providing the voice of Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King (1994).

Throughout his illustrious career, Jones earned numerous accolades, including an honorary Oscar, a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Tony Award. He also made a mark on television, winning two Emmys for his roles in Gabriel’s Fire and as the older Alex Haley in Roots: The Next Generation.

Jones was also featured in early episodes of Sesame Street and lent his voice to The Simpsons.

In recent years, he spoke publicly for the first time in nearly two decades about his long battle with type 2 diabetes. He is survived by his son, Flynn Earl Jones.
