JUST IN: Lagos Oba Punches & Injures High Chief, Alleges Disrespect (Photo)

In Azid’s community in the Badaguri region of Lagos state, Saheed Adamson, the traditional ruler of the community, is said to have beaten one of his chief executives, Michael Kunnuj, during a dispute. After that, chaos ensued.

Our correspondent learned of a young man who threatened to destroy the King’s property because of the incident.

However, the intervention of the Badagry Division police prevented them from carrying out the threat.

Police reportedly refused to arrest Kaoruko even after she filed a complaint with the police station. It is said that police officers took the chief officer to Badagry General Hospital, where he was treated.

According to the hospital medical report obtained by the correspondent, an inspector referred Aminabara-kunnuji to the hospital.

According to reports, Kunnuji was conscious when he was taken to the hospital, but it was confirmed that he was injured above his eye and was in pain and bleeding.

The chief who spoke with our correspondent said he was attacked by the monarch when he visited him after returning from Jerusalem.

Kunnuji explained that the crisis between him and the monarch began when he bought a transformer for the community. he said: When I got there, I greeted him in the Egun dialect and said, “Hello, Your Highness.” He then began yelling in public, saying, “Look at him, look at the way he greets me.

“He said I was stupid, and I replied that he was stupid. Before I knew it, I had been hit in the face with a ring and was bleeding. I didn’t fight back. I was covered in blood. left his palace with a face.

“I and my lawyer who was on the scene went to Badagry Police Station to report the attack on me. After writing a statement, police said they could not arrest him because he was the king.

“I am filing charges against him for assault. I am using the services of legal experts to pursue this case so that justice can be obtained.”

Kunnuji’s lawyer, Ganiyu Adeola, said he was taking steps to ensure justice was done.

He said: “We know no one is above the law. If Ohba commits a crime, he must be treated accordingly.”

When contacted, the monarch neither confirmed nor denied the allegations against him.

Adamson, however, said the chief executive could go to court. He said: “Let him go to court, what is your own problem? Are you not a journalist? Why do you ask such questions? Why can’t you advise him to go to court?” Is that what journalists do?”

He hissed and hung up. Badagry Police Department DSB SP Peter Gbesu has dismissed claims that officers failed to arrest or invite the monarch.

He declined to comment further and referred our correspondent to a state police spokesman.

State Police spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin promised to check and come forward.

After several attempts to get feedback for days, Hundeyin told our correspondent not to disturb him, saying he could not be forced to react to the incident.

When our correspondent pressed further, emphasising the need to react to allegations of police compromise in the case, the police spokesman promised to get back.

He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report, as calls placed to his line were not answered, while text messages were not replied.
