BREAKING: Queen Elizabeth II dies after over 70 years on throne at age of 96

On September 8, 2022, the British queen who had been in power since 1952 passed away at Balmoral at the age of 96.

After growing worries about her health earlier today, her family met at her Scottish estate.

Buckingham Palace released the following statement: “The Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will spend this evening and tomorrow in Balmoral before travelling back to London.

As an official period of mourning was declared, flags on famous buildings in Britain were lowered.
