BREAKING: Police Fire Teargas as Nigerian Youths Hold #EndSARS Memorial 2.0 Pocession At Lekki Toll gate(Video)

During the second commemoration of the #EndSARS protests in Lagos’s Lekki district, police fired tear gas and water cannons at protesters.

Remember, just two years ago, the whole country mourned after Nigerian troops allegedly opened fire at a Lekki toll station to stop young people from protesting police brutality. .

Some Nigerians, including Amnesty International, have claimed that Nigerian military officers opened fire on the demonstrators.

Today, Thursday 20th October 2022, the young people are returning to the same place to commemorate the tragic event.

Two of his organizers, popular rapper Folarin Falana known as ‘Falz’ and ‘Mr. Macaroni’, also lent their voices to the demonstration. Also at the protest is AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.

In response to the incident, Benjamin Handein, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, said some of the participants were “out of control” and climbed to the top of the toll station.

“There was no need for that. They are lining up. Please pass by. But these people are now stopping there and climbing the toll. And there is a danger of breaking the order.

“We cannot sit back and watch their misbehavior. All we could do was use tear gas. Anything other than tear gas is more harmful. There are no records of injuries.” We just did our job and faced unruly people,” he said.
