BREAKING: 42-year-old Rishi Sunak Become New UK Prime Minister
After winning the Conservative Party election, 42-year-old Rishi Sunak was elected as the new prime minister of the United Kingdom.
On Monday, October 24, 2022, the party revealed this in a tweet.
Seven weeks after Liz Truss defeated him in the last Tory election, Sunak will succeed her.
With Mordaunt struggling to achieve the necessary 100 MPs, the ex-chancellor was able to secure the support of well over half of the Tory MPs.
At 42, he will be the youngest prime minister in more than a century and the first British Asian in the UK.
Both Labour and the Scottish National Party have reaffirmed the need for a general election.
He will be the country’s first prime minister of colour and the third leader in seven weeks.
Sunak, the son of Indian immigrants and a former chancellor of the Exchequer, won the race to succeed Liz Truss, who was forced to leave last Thursday.
