Oriire Youths Hold Stakeholders’ Engagement, Decry Infrastructural Deficit
…Call for Political Leaders’ Synergy
Youths in Oriire Local Government Area, under the aegis of the Oriire Youths Council, have held a stakeholders’ engagement to highlight the importance of political involvement at both state and federal levels.
The event, held on Saturday, 19th December 2024, at Jegbe Town Hall, Ikoyi-Ile, emphasized the need for political and community leaders to prioritize infrastructural development and create a lasting legacy. Speaking at the engagement, the Oyo State Youth Parliament member representing Oriire Constituency, Hon. Ojo Aderemi, addressed delegates on the theme of the gathering, stating:
“The late Ademola Alalade Samson, of blessed memory, may have had his flaws, but his legacy of defending the interests of Oriire remains commendable. That is the kind of legacy we need to build, one that addresses our collective challenges rather than worsening them. May his soul rest in peace.”
In his remarks, he appealed to key political and community leaders, including Hon. Chief Johnson Adebayo Bamikole, Rt. Hon. Gungu Ojo, Hon. Ezekiel Ajani Oyedepo, Hon. Idowu Akanbi, Jacob Bamigboye, Olayinka Odekanmi, Barr. Olusola Alabi, Luqman Majekodunmi, Adekunle Kayode, and other notable figures such as Babatunde Ahmed, Ganiyu Laaro, and Hammed Elerukanfila, to consider the legacy they wish to leave behind for future generations.
“Leadership demands action. We urge you, our leaders, to collaborate and create opportunities for Oriire in areas such as quality education, infrastructural development, vocational training, and other aspects of growth. This will enable us to compete favorably with other local governments in Oyo State and across Nigeria,” he said.
The Chairman of the Oriire Youths Council, Isiaq Owonikoko, also called on the youth to shun violence and drug abuse, emphasizing that such vices could hinder their chances of a prosperous future.
The stakeholders’ engagement was designed to foster synergy among leaders and stakeholders across political lines, with the aim of addressing the infrastructural deficit and other developmental challenges facing the local government.
