Olubadan’s coronation: Tolani Adigun hails Oba Olakulehin, congratulates Ibadan indigenes.
Today, July 12, 2024, marks a significant day in the history of Ibadan as Oba Owolabi Olakulehin is officially crowned the Olubadan of Ibadan. This momentous occasion follows the passing of Ọba Lekan Balogun, who also hailed from the Ibadan North East local government.
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin’s ascension to this revered position is a testament to his multifaceted character and long-standing dedication to service, which has largely remained under the public radar until recently. Born into the Okugbaja family in the Ita Baale area, Olakulehin has a rich heritage that roots him deeply in the traditions and history of Ibadan.
A man of remarkable versatility, Olakulehin served in the Nigerian Army, earning the respected status of an ex-serviceman. His commitment to his country and community did not end with his military service. In the 3rd Republic, he contested in the Federal House of Representatives elections in 1992 under the banner of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and emerged victorious. His tenure was marked by significant contributions to national development and the well-being of his constituents.
