JUST IN: Tinubu suspends Fubara and his deputy, appoints Vice Admiral Ibas as Rivers state administrator

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the governor of Rivers state, Sim Fubara, his deputy and the members of the state assembly.

The president made the announcement while declaring state of emergency in the state on Tuesday.

He therefore appoints Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as the administrator of Rivers state.

The president, however, said the state of emergency declaration “does not affect the judicial arm of Rivers State, which shall continue to function in accordance with their constitutional mandate”.
