JUST IN: DSS Arrests Joseph Onuorah, Peter Obi’s Rally Coordinator In Lagos
The Department of State Services is said to have detained a coordinator for the event in Lagos State organised by Peter Obi’s Labor Party supporters.
The coordinator, known as Joseph Onuorah, was detained when he arrived in Lagos early on Saturday morning after travelling from France.
“Upon his arrival in Lagos, DSS detained Joseph Onuorah, the coordinator for the Obi rally in Lagos. He is reportedly travelling from France to Lagos for the Obi Rally “said a witness.
On Saturday, demonstrations were staged in major cities around the nation in support of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Supporters of the LP candidate, known as “Obi-dients,” were spotted congregating in key areas of Nigeria, including Lagos, Kaduna, Abia, and Edo state.
It was reported that in Lagos, the supporters began their march at Admiralty Junction and proceeded through Lekki’s main thoroughfare.
They marched towards the Jakande, Elegushi axis while stopping at each intersection to carry flags, banners, and other decorations, presumably to avoid clashes with the police already present at the Lekki Toll Gate.
Remember that a Lagos judge on Wednesday disallowed the rally’s converging on the Lekki Toll Gate.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, were both given orders by the court to ensure that the ruling was followed.
The goal of the event, according to its organisers, is to build up organic support for the LP presidential candidate before the general elections in February of next year.
Together with Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi, a 61-year-old former governor of Anambra State, is running.
