Second Niger Bridge To Be Ready For Use By Christmas 2022 – FG
The federal government has announced that the second Niger Bridge will be operational by Christmas this year.
Seyi Martins, his Ag his controller at Anambra, said in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in his Awka on Monday.
Martins said he is 95 percent complete on the first phase of the 1.6 km-long Second Niger Bridge.
The air traffic controller said the project will be available to travelers over the Christmas period, contrary to widespread news that he will be completed by 2024.
According to him, the government of President Muhammad Buhari is determined to ensure that travelers can enjoy a hassle-free journey in Niger.
He said drivers would not face the deadlocks they experienced on existing bridges over the Christmas period this year. “The first phase of the project, the bridge itself, is basically complete.
“The bridge project is 95% complete for him and will be completed by December 2022.
“The steel crash barrier is complete and the road is open to vehicles. The toll area is almost complete, all that remains is the installation of the toll canopy,” he said.
Inspectors said the bridge will be accessible from the Oboshi junction of the Onitsha-Owerri road and a road will be built to connect traffic on the Asaba-Benin highway until the second phase is completed.
“The second phase of the project has not yet started, but the government has decided that it is appropriate to open the road once the first phase is completed. “At the end of Onitsha in Obosi, there is a junction along the Onitsha – Owerri highway that gives access to the bridge.
“At the end of Asaba, there is a connecting road under construction so that travelers can access the bridge from Benin-Onitsha Road,” he said. (South)
