Los Angeles Fires Leave Homes in Ruins
A series of wildfires broke out in different parts of Los Angeles County last week. Among the most devastating were the Eaton Fire, near Pasadena, and the Palisades Fire in the coastal area of Pacific Palisades.
Firefighters have been working tirelessly to contain these fires, which have claimed at least 24 lives and caused widespread destruction across the region. As of now, strong winds and difficult weather conditions are expected to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, making firefighting efforts even more challenging.
Over 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes due to the fires, which started on January 7 during a severe windstorm. Weather experts had warned that it could be the worst windstorm in over a decade for the area.
These two fires are now ranked among the top five most destructive wildfires in California’s history, based on records kept by the state’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
