The Ilorin-Ogbomoso-Ibadan Express Road, a critical transportation artery connecting three major cities in South-West Nigeria, has deteriorated to an alarming state. This vital road, which facilitates the movement of people, goods, and services, has become a nightmare for commuters, posing serious risks to lives and livelihoods. We urgently appeal to the government to intervene and restore this essential infrastructure to a safe and motorable condition.
Current State:
The road has been plagued by:
- Potholes and craters
- Erosion and washaways
- Overgrown vegetation
- Inadequate drainage
- Insufficient lighting
- Congested traffic
- Frequent accidents and fatalities
Consequences:
- Increased travel time and frustration
- Damage to vehicles and cargo
- Risk of accidents and loss of lives
- Economic losses and reduced productivity
- Negative impact on trade and commerce
- Discomfort and hardship for commuters
Appeal to Government:
We implore the government to:
- Allocate necessary funds for rehabilitation and maintenance
- Deploy adequate equipment and personnel for repairs
- Implement effective traffic management measures
- Ensure regular maintenance to prevent future deterioration
