Minimum Wage: Tripartite Committee Meets Again in Abuja

The tripartite committee has started another meeting to determine the new national minimum wage.

The meeting is currently in progress.

This meeting, the fifth since the suspension of the labour strike, is taking place discreetly at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja.

Some prominent members of the committee are in attendance including the Director General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF,; the Minister of Labour and Employment (State) Nkiruka Onyejeocha, the Governor of Imo State Hope Uzodimma; a representative of the Salaries, Income and Wages Commission; the Minister of Finance Wale Edun as well as the Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu.

During the Thursday meeting, committee members provided reassurances that a possible figure could be revealed on Friday.

Recall that the organized labour had halted their strike for a week to allow the committee to conclude their discussions and propose a figure to be forwarded to the National Assembly.
