BREAKING: Tinubu jets out to France for private visit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, departs Abuja for France for a private visit.

This was contained in a statement issued by the president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale on Wednesday.

The president will return to the country in the first week of February 2024.

This is the president’s first foreign trip of the year. The Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in Dubai was his last trip outside the country in 2023.

His 1,411 delegates to the summit generated a lot of controversies as it came amid economic hardship being faced by Nigerians.

However, it was later clarified that out of the 1,411 delegates, 590 were sponsored to attend the conference by the Nigerian government.

Meanwhile following the backslash, the president on January 9, 2024, approved “cost-cutting” measures that involve slashing, by 60%, official entourage on local and international travels.

The Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale who disclosed this said, the new limits will affect travels by the President, Vice President, First Lady and other top government officials.

For foreign trips, he said Tinubu’s delegation will now be capped at 20 people, down from the previous 50-man delegation.

He said the First Lady’s entourage abroad is restricted to just five members, which is an over 60% reduction.
