When Messi’s shirts sell for over £8million, it will surpass the current world record set by Steve Hodge, Hodge who sold Diego Maradona’s ‘Hand of God’ jersey from the 1986 World Cup quarter-final last year.
The sale which was around £7.1m is a world record for an item of football memorabilia
