4 arrested in Ogbomoso and taken to Lagos for suspected retribution after Fulani herders kill one.

Four persons were arrested in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, Friday by police operatives from Obalende, Lagos.

They are suspected to have participated in the alleged arson perpetrated against a Fulani camp that followed the reported killing of a young man at Akowonjo area of Ogbomoso last year.

ogbomosoinsightonline.com could not ascertain how far the prosecution of the suspected Fulani killer of the young man had gone but when the residents of the area had put the matter behind them, police men stormed the community, an outskirt of Ogbomoso, to effect arrest of the four persons, who are said to be farmers. The arrested suspects according to findings are Oladejo Rotimi, Yinusa Tijani, David Oladeji and Raheem Azeez.

Their arrest was sequel, investigations revealed, to a petition to the Inspector General of Police by one Fulani leader in the area, by name Adamu.

Their people quickly sent a delegation to the monarch of the town His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, the Soun for his intervention. However, the Oba is away on a visit to Gombe.

In the meantime, his aides under his directive quickly waded in, but the police insisted on taking the men to Lagos.

“Fulani herders killed our brother and they have now come to arrest our people who are farmers, who are innocent,” one of the colleagues of those arrested said while confirming the arrest to Ogbomoso Insight.
