Independence Anniversary: Let’s Unite, Rebuild The Country – Tinubu
The best way to honour the country’s founding fathers, according to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) presidential candidate for the election of 2023, is for Nigerians to pledge their commitment to the nation’s unity and prosperity.
He pointed out that a true understanding of the struggles of the founding fathers would not be possible given the challenging times.
However, the APC presidential flagbearer emphasised that the country is celebrating the anniversary of its independence because of its citizens’ patriotic struggle to leave a unified, robust nation to coming generations.
The inspirational Tinubu added that the country’s best days are yet ahead, claiming that the past 62 years have been eventful as the nation has consolidated democratic rule for 23 years.
However, the APC nominee insisted that there is still more to be done “in perfecting our model of administration so that government would always and entirely be for, of, by, and for of the people.
“Our forefathers were driven to work for the independence we now enjoy because they wanted our people to live in the dignity given by prosperity, fairness, freedom, and an unwavering belief in our ability to overcome any obstacle,” he said.
“Let us make a commitment to the unity of Nigeria and to our collective growth on this Independence Day. No matter how different our ancestries, religions, or regions may be, we must stand as one and see each other as brothers and sisters.
“To develop our country, we must work together to expand our economy, create employment, feed the hungry, educate our children, tend to the ill, and defend our people and their way of life from evil and misguided enemies who want to destroy everything that is good.
Regardless of political allegiance, may we all work for Nigeria’s best interests, and may we never compromise that goal in the name of petty gain, he prayed.
