Nigerian soldier beats up police officer in Benue for threatening to shoot him (Video)

A Nigerian soldier attacked a police officer on Otukpo Ufia Road in Benue State after the officer allegedly harassed him and threatened to shoot.

In a video shared by Sahara Reporters, the soldier was seen confronting the officer and daring him to shoot.

A civilian tried to intervene and separate the two, but the soldier warned him not to touch him, making the attempt unsuccessful.

In another development, a violent clash between armed operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Mobile Police (MOPOL) officers at a mining site in Ondo State, resulted in injuries and the abduction of two police personnel.

The incident occurred around 4:15pm on Wednesday, at Ade-Olap Global Resources Ltd along the Ore-Sagamu Expressway in Ondo State, Sahara Reporters reports.

According to a police signal, Inspector Egbekele Alaba was the leader of the MOPOL 17 Akure unit on guard duty at the site, and the armed NSCDC operatives arrived in a convoy consisting of a gun truck and three Hilux vehicles.

In the wireless signal, the NSCDC personnel were identified as being on a national assignment with officials from the Ministry of Mines, allegedly attempted to disarm the MOPOL officers without prior notification.

A scuffle ensued, during which one NSCDC officer sustaining a bullet wound to the leg.

However, two MOPOL officers were reportedly abducted by the NSCDC team.

According to the signal, security agencies are currently engaging in consultations to de-escalate the situation and facilitate the release of the abducted officers.

Meanwhile, the wounded NSCDC officer is said to be receiving medical treatment and is in stable condition.

AS A RESULT OF THE SCUFFLE THAT ENSUED, ONE NSCDC PERSONNEL SUSTAINED BULLET WOUND ON THE LEG WHILE TWO MOPOL PERSONNEL WERE ABDUCTED BY THE NSCDC TEAM. MEANWHILE CONSULTATION ONGOING TO DEESCALATE SITUATION AND SECURE RELEASE OF THE ABDUCTED PERSONNEL MINE AS WOUNDED NSCDC VICTIM IS RESPONDING TO TREATMENT IN HOSPITAL.
