Formal Complaint and Demand for Transparency Regarding the Oyo Youth Summit 2025 Award for Oyo State Youth Award for Governance – Kenny Christ

To: The Organizers of the Oyo Youth Summit 2025
From: President, Federation of Ogbomoso Student Union (FOGSU), LAUTECH Chapter
Date: May 1, 2025
Esteemed organizers,
I am writing to express my profound disappointment and utter dismay regarding the outcome of the Oyo State Youth Award for Governance award at the recently concluded Oyo Youth Summit 2025. As the President of the Federation of Ogbomoso Student Union (FOGSU), LAUTECH Chapter, I am compelled to address the injustice that has been brought to light.
It has come to my attention, and I have verified, that Comrade Adediran Abiodun Sunday was the clear and deserving winner of the Oyo State Youth Award for Governance award. His contributions, dedication, and achievements in community service, leadership, innovation were evident and widely recognized. Therefore, the decision to award the prize to another individual is not only baffling but also deeply disheartening.
This decision undermines the integrity of the summit, erodes the faith of the youth in the awards process, and casts a shadow of doubt over the organizers’ commitment to fairness and transparency. It sends a negative message, suggesting that merit and hard work are not the primary determinants of recognition.
I am therefore, on behalf of the entire student body I represent, demanding the following:
1. A Full and Transparent Explanation: The organizers must provide a detailed and transparent explanation for the decision to award the prize to someone other than Comrade Adediran Abiodun Sunday. This explanation should include the specific criteria used for judging, the scoring of each nominee, and the rationale behind the final decision.
2. Review of the Award Process: A thorough review of the entire awards process is necessary to identify any flaws or biases that may have led to this outcome. This review should involve independent experts and stakeholders to ensure objectivity and fairness.
3. Correction of the Injustice: The organizers must take immediate steps to rectify this injustice. This could include, but is not limited to, publicly acknowledging the rightful winner, Comrade Adediran Abiodun Sunday, and providing him with the recognition and accolades he deserves.
4. Commitment to Future Transparency: The organizers must commit to implementing transparent and accountable processes for future awards. This includes clearly defined criteria, independent judging panels, and open communication with nominees and the public.
We, the youth of Oyo State, deserve a process that is fair, just, and transparent. We will not stand by and watch as deserving individuals are denied the recognition they have earned.
We demand justice for Comrade Adediran Abiodun Sunday.
Sincerely,
Fatayo Kehinde Peter
