Bayewuwon Hosts Journalists In Ibadan, Says Awolowo’s Thought Inspires His Political Journey

Prince Kayode Oyetunde Bayewuwon, a philanthropist and political hopeful, has credited his early passion for politics to the ideology of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whose vision for Nigeria made a profound impression on him.
During an interaction with journalists in Ibadan, Bayewuwon, an Ogbomoso native and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reflected on how his political journey began at just seven years old, during the 1979 general elections.
He recalled, “The events surrounding the 1979 elections intrigued me. I was captivated by Chief Awolowo’s vision and determination. Even after his loss, his resilience inspired me, and I eagerly followed his speeches on NTA. His ideas on governance and national development left a lasting mark on me.”
Born on October 28, 1972, in Lagos, Bayewuwon pursued his education at The Polytechnic Ibadan, where he earned a National Diploma in Mathematics and Statistics. He later advanced his studies at Ondo State Polytechnic, specializing in Accounting, and furthered his education in the United Kingdom with a qualification in Computing Engineering.
Bayewuwon officially ventured into politics at the age of 19 in Mafoluku, Lagos. He contested for councilor positions at 18 and again at 21. Beyond his political aspirations, he is deeply engaged in philanthropy, including the installation of boreholes, renovation of primary healthcare centers, sponsorship of sports tournaments, and provision of scholarships across the 33 local government areas in Oyo State.
Speaking on his political ambition, Bayewuwon emphasized his dedication to public service. “We are a team committed to making a difference. We started with consultations, and the next phase involves reaching out to the public through media engagements,” he explained.
He also underscored the importance of the media in strengthening democracy and fostering accountability. “The media plays a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and ensuring leaders remain answerable to the people,” he said.
Bayewuwon expressed optimism about the potential of Oyo State, emphasizing that with visionary leadership, the state could fully utilize its abundant human capital for growth and development.
“Oyo State has the talent required for progress. With the right leadership, we can identify and support these talents to drive significant advancements,” he stated.
Addressing the state of education, Bayewuwon expressed concern about the current challenges and shared his vision for improvement. “The condition of our schools is far from ideal. When students graduate without meeting basic academic standards, it signals a need for urgent intervention. Our goal is to ensure Oyo State becomes a leader in education,” he concluded.
