Oyo Crash: Three Dead, Five Injured as Bus Collides With Trailer

No fewer than three people have lost their lives, while five others sustained minor injuries in a road accident involving a bus and a trailer in Oyo State.
Star Potter gathered that the fatal incident occurred on Sunday in Jobele town, in front of the Afijio Local Government Area headquarters.
Reports indicated that a J5 bus, whose registration number was not immediately known, collided with the rear of a stationary DAF trailer parked by the roadside. The bus was reportedly conveying bakery machines, while the trailer was loaded with synthetic materials.
Both vehicles reportedly burst into flames shortly after the collision.
Three victims were recovered dead from the scene, while five others were rescued alive with minor injuries.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident, stating that firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before successfully extinguishing it.
According to Akinwande, preliminary findings indicated that the accident occurred after the driver of the J5 bus lost control and rammed into the stationary trailer.
He explained that the fire engulfed both vehicles following the impact, resulting in the deaths of three occupants, whose bodies were recovered by firefighters.
The five survivors were rescued with minor injuries, he added.
Akinwande further noted that the fire service personnel worked for hours to bring the situation under control and completely extinguish the flames.
