Elemuye village near Biiro Okìkí in Surulere local government area of Ogbomoso, Oyo state, has been thrown into mourning following the killing of a 31 year old farmer, identified as Adigun Solomon Adeyemi.
The dastardly incident was however described as a “revenge killing,” by a resident of Elemuye, who spoke with insightonline.com on condition of anonymity.
“The herdsmen tracked him to his farm to avenge the death of a cow two weeks ago during an altercation following the invasion of the deceased father’s farm by the herdsmen at Oke-Asa, near Iwofin, also in Surulere local government.”
The deceased was said to have stood up to the suspected herdsmen for invading and destroying his father’s cashew farm leading to the death of a cow.
The brutal assassination reportedly happened Wednesday in his own farm, where the criminals reportedly traced him to.
On the second day of the incident that resulted into the death of a cow, the suspects “instigated the police” to arrest the father of the deceased and locked him up for days before he was granted bail.
“Unfortunately yesterday afternoon those fulani herders traced him down to his farm at Elemuye village and butchered him,” one of his cousins, John Oladayo, also told insightonline.com.
“He was quickly taken to Bowen University Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, where he eventually gave up the ghost,” Oladayo said amid grief.
The deceased, who was also a produce buyer was said to be single.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report the police are yet to be informed according to Oladayo.
Recall earlier this year, January 29, herdsmen also murdered a cleric Rev’d Segun Adegboyega at his backyard farm at Gege area along Ogbomoso-Iseyin road for cautioning them against destroying his farm with their cows.
